As mentioned above, when attaching the pillars the first pillar should be flush with the ceiling (i.e. nothing protruding - it can be tricky to get it to do that), then the second pillar should be done so it's at the higher of the two "middle" snap points. The top of the 2nd pillar must be equidistant from the top and bottom of the first pillar.
Start on the highest ground. Build foundations until you cannot place anymore because of the downslope. Then place a ceiling off of it. Place a pillar under that ceiling. Then place another ceiling on the bottom of that pillar. You can then place a foundation under that pillar. Once you do that, remove the lower ceiling. Then, you can either wall off the ceiling/pillar, or remove them and build stairs to transition from the lower to higher.
I'm glad it was revived. Saved me from creating the same thread. Idk y ppl complain about necro threads if the content is relevant.
