I'll check again if it's still doing it, but lately, whenever I switched the forge from forge mode (forgot the official term for it) to burner mode, I get dupilicates of whatever was in the forge at the time, such as Charcoal/Ingots/Wood/Thatch - The original items are left in the forge, but exact amount duplicates are added straight to my inventory.
Not to say duping stuff like charcoal isn't kinda a nice blessing when you need that GUNPOWDER so much, it's a liiitle gamebreaking.
