Are you running off an SSD? Try setting your entire Stellaris directory as an exception for your virus scanner...
As a point of reference, what are your PC specs?
Also what map are you trying to load? As the largest maps probably take the longest to load. Anyway I think the 1400+ map can take something like a little over 6 minutes to load, when starting a brand new game, on my system which most certainly isn´t the newest one around.
(Loading saves once the game is created should also be considerably faster.)
Hmm. Interesting have you tried loading a smaller map or changing the renderer from Settings -> Graphics between DirectX 9 and Direct X 11 (beta) if one would perform better than the other?
I hadn't considered the DX version as a potential factor myself, now that you mention it...
But, there definitely has been something change with the mod in recent updates... The team have clearly added alot of new features, that seem to load in at around that 25% mark, which seems to be the cause of the pauses at that loading point...
Looking at the specs on the laptop, I'm thinking it's pretty basic if I'm being honest -- no offense, intended -- so I'm wondering if maybe it's not coping with the most recent updates...
To put this into context from personal experience... Over Christmas I was trying to get STNH up and running on my laptop, which in itself is no sloach (decent i5, which I can't remember exactly off hand, 16gb, GTX1050ti) but because it's SSD is only 256gb, I tend to run games off a USB3 external SSD, which is normally fine as it performs a little better than a high-end mechanical drive... Games do tend to take a little longer to load, but once loaded, I've not seen any difference in gameplay...
Having said that, trying to run the most recent STNH version on the external drive was taking well over 15 minutes to load into a 1400 system map, and was stuck at 25% for most of that... Once moving the game to my SSD, it took less than 5 minutes to load...
I really have to wonder if the people experiencing these really long pauses are trying to run STNH on potato PC's, or, at the very least, off of mechanical drives, or just really, really poor performance SSD's, and it's just causing massive delays loading all the background stuff the mod does...
I have a new Rig with M2-SSD and all that fancy stuff it takes about 15-20min loading time..i would say its a script bug ...a bug thats makes players play a other mod or a other game
Using what map?
Vanilla Stellaris doesn't do half the scripting that STNH does on load, nor does it have even half the races, and the map is much smaller, even on max settings, so STNH is a much larger game to load...
There have been alot of new additions in recent STNH patches, and clearly something within that new content is what is causing the pausing...
Something else to try is making sure that your Stellaris directory is setup as an exception in your virus scanner, on the off chance your virus scanner is picking up something withing STNH and blocking it, causing some sort of lock up, or extreme loading times while scanning all the files being loaded, etc...
And if that's gonna be your attitude, seriously, go do that...
STNH is a free mod, that the team behind it put considerable time and effort into... If you're gonna be an arse about trying to fix what ever the issue is for a mod you paid nothing for, don't bother fixing it, follow your own advice, and play something else... *facepalm*
And what kind of hardware do you have?
