Completely unusable, game won't load past 25%
When I try to start a new game, it won't load past 25%, even after leaving it for twenty minutes. I have no problems using the original game, which runs fine and loads in less than a minute, the problem is limited to STNH. I've tried rolling back to the 3.5.3 Fornax version of Stellaris and I've only got the STNH mod running.

There is a known issue with loading delays at 25%, but it should load...

Are you running off an SSD? Try setting your entire Stellaris directory as an exception for your virus scanner...

As a point of reference, what are your PC specs?

Also what map are you trying to load? As the largest maps probably take the longest to load. Anyway I think the 1400+ map can take something like a little over 6 minutes to load, when starting a brand new game, on my system which most certainly isn´t the newest one around.

(Loading saves once the game is created should also be considerably faster.)

I set my anti-virus to ignore the stellaris folder, then tried starting a new game twice. Stayed on 25% for around 20 minutes, before the entire program closed itself and gave me the paradox interactive crash reporter window. I'm using amd ryzen 5 3450u with radeon vega mobile gfx with 8GB ram. This is with the 1400 map, which I never had any issues with previously, its only after I've come back after a few months that I have this issue.

Hmm. Interesting have you tried loading a smaller map or changing the renderer from Settings -> Graphics between DirectX 9 and Direct X 11 (beta) if one would perform better than the other?

I hadn't considered the DX version as a potential factor myself, now that you mention it...

But, there definitely has been something change with the mod in recent updates... The team have clearly added alot of new features, that seem to load in at around that 25% mark, which seems to be the cause of the pauses at that loading point...

Looking at the specs on the laptop, I'm thinking it's pretty basic if I'm being honest -- no offense, intended -- so I'm wondering if maybe it's not coping with the most recent updates...

To put this into context from personal experience... Over Christmas I was trying to get STNH up and running on my laptop, which in itself is no sloach (decent i5, which I can't remember exactly off hand, 16gb, GTX1050ti) but because it's SSD is only 256gb, I tend to run games off a USB3 external SSD, which is normally fine as it performs a little better than a high-end mechanical drive... Games do tend to take a little longer to load, but once loaded, I've not seen any difference in gameplay...

Having said that, trying to run the most recent STNH version on the external drive was taking well over 15 minutes to load into a 1400 system map, and was stuck at 25% for most of that... Once moving the game to my SSD, it took less than 5 minutes to load...

I really have to wonder if the people experiencing these really long pauses are trying to run STNH on potato PC's, or, at the very least, off of mechanical drives, or just really, really poor performance SSD's, and it's just causing massive delays loading all the background stuff the mod does...

I have a new Rig with M2-SSD and all that fancy stuff it takes about 15-20min loading time..i would say its a script bug ...a bug thats makes players play a other mod or a other game

Using what map?
dragonlord 2023 年 2 月 21 日 下午 10:18
I'm skeptical that its purely a performance issue. I tried a smaller map and had the exact same issue. My laptop has no problems running the original game on a big map and STNH worked fine in the past.
Orion88 FIN  [开发者] 2023 年 2 月 22 日 上午 7:23
At least one good things is that when/if you get the initial game creation to finish loading from a save after that should be a lot faster. Although this naturally doesn´t help much if you cannot finish the game start at all. Anyway if that happens you could always try to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the mod and to make sure that Stellaris game files are intact from the Steam game settings (Verify the integrity of game files).

Vanilla Stellaris doesn't do half the scripting that STNH does on load, nor does it have even half the races, and the map is much smaller, even on max settings, so STNH is a much larger game to load...

There have been alot of new additions in recent STNH patches, and clearly something within that new content is what is causing the pausing...

Something else to try is making sure that your Stellaris directory is setup as an exception in your virus scanner, on the off chance your virus scanner is picking up something withing STNH and blocking it, causing some sort of lock up, or extreme loading times while scanning all the files being loaded, etc...

And if that's gonna be your attitude, seriously, go do that...

STNH is a free mod, that the team behind it put considerable time and effort into... If you're gonna be an arse about trying to fix what ever the issue is for a mod you paid nothing for, don't bother fixing it, follow your own advice, and play something else... *facepalm*

And what kind of hardware do you have?
trianglular 2023 年 3 月 5 日 下午 11:01
I had the same issue, unsubscribing and re-subscribing to the mod to re-download fixed the problem. I went from being unable to load a medium galaxy to able to load the 1300 star galaxy without issue.
G-Man  [开发者] 2023 年 3 月 6 日 上午 6:44
its still the same vanilla issue which cause in the mod. next patch it will be fixed
