I pull up to the collectors and eject ice but dont get any credits

Not sure its been working for a long time. Can toss things in, can get things out, but as far as credits / space credits are concerned on our server it seems to not work. We've just been letting people tear them down due to this.

When doing commercial trade (with a ship), throw out the items you want to sell from your connector into the stations collector. Then go over to the trading ports terminal and do your trading. You shouldn't try to dock to the connectors on service stations. They are just there to eject the credits you receive for selling things or to eject the stuff that you bought. So I guess they want to encourage us to build ships with connectors and collectors next to each other.

When doing retail trade, just take the items you want to trade into your inventory and throw them into the collector that is next to the trading terminal.
