I know this post is a bit old but just bear in mind they will use their antennas to broadcast for backup. The sooner you can either disable power on their ship or take out that antenna, the less likely they'll be able to call in more.

Depending on the ships being sent your way, I tend to just grind my way through the ship until it stops broadcasting (and moving for that matter). :)

If it's got defenses (like turrets or guns), you may not have much choice unless you're already set up with your own. But if you do have defenses, just do the best you can to take out those antennas as fast as you can.

Yeah I figured it out. You can easily stop them without a ship.
