( The log file has not been updated )
That's odd. Never had a crash without an entry in the log file. I'll try to look into it, but without the log I'm not sure where to look.
If it's the first merchant leaving, that's probably a Merchant City-State, tier 1? What's your kingdom worth and/or population at the time of the crash? I'm assuming the crash is related to generating the next merchant of that type.

From what I can tell, it seems to have mistakenly set "C:\WINDOWS\system32" as the working folder, instead of "[Steam]/steamapps/common/Gnomoria" like it's supposed to be.
This is not a problem a mod can fix, it looks like a problem with Gnomoria itself, or with one of the libraries it uses. Post this on the official Gnomoria forums.
-----
I do know that Gnomoria has been having problems recently with non-US-english systems, so system locale/language might actually be the cause of the problem. Changing them might prevent this from happening, if you wanted to try to work around the problem yourself.
Could you provide a saved game with a torch build command in progress? I've been actively playing on EspEcon, and I've had no issues yet with hundreds of torches. I suspect it won't happen on my computer, but I might be able to get a look at it if you queue one up and save it.
EDIT: Just started it back up and got a different crash. This one is definetly mod related. I got it will doing a drag click to select something. http://pastebin.com/E9CaKd4G
