Big Swamp Cave Base Spot?
Hello

I was wondering if we can build a base in the big cave located in the swamp,
i am not talking about the newer small one but the big one.

I heard from my server admin that that cave might be or still is "work in progress" and if I build my base in there, it could happen that someday my base would be bugged or destroyed because changes have been applied to the cave.
That cave is unfortunately the last cave not used by anyone on the server so I kinda want to build in there, but not if the work may be for nothing

So i figured I would ask you guys or the friendly modder himself if that might be the case and I should not build in there.

afaik, you cannot build in there. there are a few places that have "ground" you can set foundations on, but you wont be able to do much with it.

Umm in the very back of the cave you can lay foundations in the water!

I already built some structures inside and thats working
I just want to know if is safe to build there or if some of my base will be destroyed because they are still making changes to that cave

It is safe as long as you build a good gate and defense for it at the mouth of the cave. Currently my clan controls the entire cave with many structures inside it. However, we lately have found the green fog issue to be a major problem. Plus today we found that there is a big clipping issue in the cave walls and ceiling where you can easily clip through it from inside to out but not the other way around, thank god. ;)

ok so you think they will not make major changes to the cave, so that the base could be corrupt or even destroyed afterwards?
I would really like some official answer on this because then we would really plan to build there

We will not change the swamp cave. Please post pictures in our discord link under the bug report discussion section if you cannot build in some areas.

One can not build in the water inside the cave,
Only in the 2 big rooms further in, but besides that you can not build any type of foundation in the water

Another question

If you were to fix any of these small bugs, would that also destroy all of the built structures inside?
Or does it only destroy the structures if you do major changes to the cave?

Generally a building only gets destroyed by changes to the world landscape itself. For example you build on a mountain and the mountain gets flattened to change the landscape. From what i understand from watching the dev stream on Twitch the landscape itself wont receive any big changes anymore.

Caves are different since they are actually considered a separate "level" and are build with rock parts to form a whole. Changing these rocks from non-buildable to buildable shouldnt affect your base.
