They spawn on the volcanic island in the north. There is a very rare spawn for them on that metal filled ridge just north east of the floating island. I've seen one in the Redwoods as well as just east of the Temple.

Finding them is a pain. The two I tamed (one in a local game, one on a server) were both found by accident when I was looking for other stuff or collecting rock.
