if you are having trouble read this and check your .Ini file too
To enable the cheat console follow these steps go to:
1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II
2. open swkotor2
3. scroll down to game options
4. add EnableCheats=1 to the game options section
5. Go to File then Save.

while in game press ` key or ~ key it will be the button under your ESC button.
the cheat console is invisible so type carefully.
you will know it's activated because you wont be able to move.

type giveitem hak_pad into the cheat console.

(NO CAPS, The Underscore "_" is an Underscore "_", There is No space between hak_pad, there is an _ )

hakpad should appear in your misc items.

Bug Fixes:

hakpad is listed as "this item is not a usable or equippable item".
the game is trying to load the mods in the wrong order, swapping that via the Workshop tab in the game's properties by using the advanced option of "Find Best Load Order" Should Fix this.

Grenade fix
Remember if you are using a Euro Keyboard and getting a blank grenade: If you had to use the alt-shift command to change your keyboard to US keybindings in order to utilize the tilde key (~) for the console, remember that your key for underscore will have been changed as well.

instead of "giveitem hak_pad" you were writing "giveitem hak?pad", but due to the _ and ? having switched position when switched to the US configuration.

So remember to adjust accordingly.

If that Fails to work many people have said that it fixes by itself after a while.
The hak_Pad will appear in your Misc Items inverntory you use it from the little menu your combat abilities are on, use it like an armband.

Mod Conflicts:
Mod Confliction note/ Installing the Mod

This mod Conflicts with The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM)
1.To Fix the Conflict simply unsubscribe to both mods
2.Start up your game then close your game (so the Files can reorganise themselves)
3.Then subscribe to TSLRCM and wait for the workshop content to install
4.Then Subscribe To hak_Pad mod
5.Start up your game then close your game (files need to reorganise again.)
6.Then start your game and Enjoy it.
(ALL STEPS ARE NECESSARY TO FOLLOW)

M4-78EP Conflicts with this Mod.
on arrival to M4-78EP, The hak_Pad will Vanish from existence, To fix this make sure M4-78EP is higher in the load order OR Simply install M4-78EP before installing this hak_pad.

Hi Simeon,
Do you know of any way to remap the console key through the .ini file. On my Euro keyboard the console just won't work...

There are more Versions than just Simply the Key under ESC Try for Example Shift+^ However you Could Encouter the Same Problem that i did, it's Simply not Working ( I Think thats the Problem here)

Try the Following if you are Using Win7:
on the Rightside of your Taskbar you should read (Mostlikely) the First 2, or 3 Letters of your Language, in my Case DE for Deutsch(German) Rightclick it and Select Settings or somethning like this. After that a Window should Appear where you can Select a different Keyboard Layouts. if it is Already in this List, select English(US) If not, Click Add and Add it from that List, so you can choose it. After that is Done, start the Game and you should be able to use the Console through the Key under Esc. Use the Cheat, Save, and then Close the Game. Choose now your Old Keyboard Settings and Play like Usual.

(Wrote it in English just for the Case that People from other Places than Germany might Encounter the same Problem.)

Another Method:
Hold Alt+Left Shift. Release them, and quickly press the Key under the ESC Key.

@NewDynasty done a small amount of research for you, try press simultaneously Left CTRL & Left SHIFT release it & quickly hit the Tilde key or a key that looks like one of these ~ , ' `

apparently for euro keyboards it should be this key ²
I'm hoping this helps, I'll try my best.

@simeon thanks for checking this for me! I too read the site where you got your info from :)

Sadly it still doesnt seem to work properly... I was hoping the hak pad mod would be a console replacement, sadly I'd still need it. Guess I'll be playing console free this time :D

I'm confused on how to make this mod work. I've followed what you told us to do to enable cheats but I still have a few questions. How do you know if you typed it right if you can't see it? Also, after you type it, do you just press enter? I am new to mods and if you can help me figure this out, I would grealty appreciate it.

Ok so I have a slight problem. I got this mod and it worked just fine, but now I am on Malachor V heading towards. . .*the boss*, but the hakpad vanished from my inventory since the last planet I was on before the story pretty much took over. So basically before you fight Darth Nihlus. I have tried inputting the command in the console several times, I tried unsubscribing, and resubscribing, but I just can't get the hakpad back. I think I'd have to start a new game or go back to a previous save, but I'm not about that life. Anyone know of a way to get the hakpad back?

Also, I know the console works because I used it to heal myself and such after the hakpad vanished.

@m_mcnally09 you wont be able to move your character while the Cheat console is active. press enter to activate the code/ cheat, the cheat console is also invisible so type extra carefully.

@Darth Ceveo I'd say uninstall the mod, load up your game, save it again, then download the mod again. you should probably talk to the Author/creator about this problem though.

@simeon369 Yeah I talked to him, he said he had no idea either and I'll have to go back to an old save. Sucks, but nothing I can do.

i have another problem:
whn i try to use the hakpad it says this item is not useable and/or equipable so i have it in my inventory but have no idea on how to use it. any help would be welcome

You're supposed to use it like how you use Force Speed, Battle Meditation, etc. It'll be in the slot used for your armbands. NOT your inventory, the little quick select thing on the bottom left is where you can find and use it.
