Ever since I saw my first GP30 (summer of 1979 in Cleveland, OH) I thought they were the coolest looking locomotive I ever saw. My train watching buddy and I saw it and we didn't even know what it was until we described it to another guy in our MR club we were in at the time. There was a highway that was closed for repaving and bridge repair and we usd the bridge for a trian watching platform near a steel mill of some type. Someone from the Cleveland area may know which one that was.
