When your army is outside the settlement and you give it the stand "patrol", than you get a buffer for refilling you ranks as long as you have enough supplies in the region.
Alright so Patrol outside of town and there is a balancing act between refilling in garison vs public order. Which... actually makes a lot of sense. Love it!
What still baffles me: Why arent they replenishing at full speed? (one + instead of ++)
or in other words:
What else besides:
-having enough population to refill your ranks
-having enough supply stocked
-having the army garrisoned
can be optimized to make sure the army refills the best?
Feels like im still missing something here.
There are 4 classes of people for each faction. These have different names depending on the faction:
1) Upper Class (Nobles/Partricians)
2) Middle Class (Plebians/Warrior Class)
3) Lower Class (Proletarii/Commoners)
4) Foreigners
Be sure to have enough of the right people similar to your units
Also important: Character traits and skills of your general. With growing experience you can choose skills that level up the replenishment rate.
There is one more thing:
Ive read that its hardcoded into the game that there must be enough populus for all your units for them to start to refill...
i think that bogus tbh. If you happen to know smth about that lemme know!
