You can set up less npc inhabitants in mod options to have some houses free for you. But im not sure they will totally not spawn here afterwards. Lack of claiming house for yourself is kinda annoying one.

they used to NOT spawn inside the house set as YOURS if your started with one.
something happened to where now they WILL spawn inside your starter house.

not much you can do except make it so its only second floor access to prevent looters from leaving and throw the bodies out the second floor windows
