Also, just because a npc is alone at the moment doesn't necessarily mean that they are a loner npc. Their spouse might just be out scavenging.
It's weird when I'm trying to recruit a guy or his kid, but they don't want to leave their family behind, but the wife/mother is more than happy to abandon them lol
I had this one group near my base so I just waited till one was scavenging and picked off the loner at the base. Suddenly my base looks a whole lot safer in comparison.
It's Rimworld Mechanics, you gotta apply Rimworld logic.
