[B42 Unstable] Guide To Fix Character Model Not Rendering
On Build 42, the characters that isn't the currently controlled one have their model disappeared. This is due to the new lighting change and for some reason IndieStone specifically told the renderer not to render another player object (FBORenderCell @ line 3527). Thanks Naneek for the FBO cell rendering discovery!

This thread is a guide to modify the game file so that unfocused members can be rendered.


Step 1
Locate the steam folder that contains Project Zomboid. Right Click Project Zomboid in your Steam Library, and choose Locate Game Files.

It should look something like this:
- On Linux: /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid
- On Windows: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\

Everything before /steamapps should now be referred to as {YOUR_STEAM_INSTALLATION_FOLDER}

Step 2
Find the necessary file included in this mod on your PC. It should be: {YOUR_STEAM_INSTALLATION_FOLDER}/steamapps/workshop/content/108600/3395761583/mods/PartySystem/42.0/java

Step 3
Within the folder that you found in Step 2, there is a folder called "zombie". Copy that, and paste that onto: {YOUR_STEAM_INSTALLATION_FOLDER}/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid

If it asks you to overwrite, select "Yes" on all 3 files


That's it! That's all you need to do, but note that every time they release a new patch, you have to do this again!

you can just paste the mods zombie folder into the main PZ folder for windows

Yes, exactly that. I just wanna make sure people who is new to patching the game knows where to look, and apparently Linux has another level of directory that Windows doesn't

recent patch dropped yesterday I think

when I overwrote the files I am greeted with a black screen and an infinite rising number on the red box on the lower right

Just want to confirm if it's only on my end

I did the same and now i got an infinite error number and black screen

Yep, happens with every update cause the code is out of date. This has now been patched.

Where can I find the mod? I don't seem to have the 3395761583 folder?

Make sure to launch the game and let it download to the mod first before starting to look for that folder

I'm getting the same issue, there is no folder with the steam id but the mod is loaded into the game just fine. I can create and change characters, they just don't render. I'm at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\steamapps\workshop\content\108600

Figured it out, must be a setting in my steam but my mods download to this folder instead C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600. It is NOT in my project zomboid directory for whatever reason.

Got it, for some reason mine was not in the 108600 folder and in a 261550 folder. Thanks for the reply!

For anyone that might need the example;
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\3395761583

That is Bannerlords appid, not Project Zomboid. I honestly dont know why it's like that

Im pretty sure i did the folder section right but cant figure out how to create or switch to characters. i think i saw that tab is the button but i still cant get it
