I ask this because I tried getting on the game with this mod turned on and it loaded up fine, but when I tried to start a custom battle to check out some of the units, the game just instantly crashed.
And just as somewhat of a side note, it would be nice to get a mod for this game that actually put the units' unit cards in the custom battles as well.
Hello chubbyninja89!
For the unit cards to work, you have to set in the graphic settings Realistic mode instead of the default (Vibrant).
No idea why the custom battles do not work for you, will need to investigate further.
Oh, ok.
Now I feel dumb for never really trying that on this or any other mods for this game.
But hopefully it can be fixed.
They start Christian, all their family members. And that's historical. But they can only build Donar's temples. No churches for those poor Christian souls. Which makes it tough to control and convert pagan regions.
During the days of the king Ermanaric, just before the Huns hit them, Greuthungi possibly had a vast, multi tribal empire, reaching from the Black Sea to the Baltic and Ural mountains. So they could use some Slavic, Sarmatian and Baltic levy. Even Finnish. And Thracian, especially the Bastarnae
Eventually, they coexisted with the Romans after conquering Italy, and build a very advanced state. Left some great art. It makes sense they get stuff like plumbing, Roman units , academia etc in the late game. Their rivals, Longobards and Franks, were much more savage in the IV Century and stayed that way for at least two Centuries.
Thanks for the mod!
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
The work on the mod continues and Skynet Bunker improves it day by day, faction by faction. The plan is to release updates in major blocks. The next closest update should contain a large pack of upgraded Sassanid units with visible armor upgrades and variations. Eventually, sure, the Greuthungi will be affected and enhanced too! Just please give Skynet some time.
That could be great. Or perhaps something a choice, like in medieval 2, where Lithuania can convert to Christian or stay pagan. Go civilized, get some Roman stuff, but loose some old school barbaric units, or vice versa.
I know king Teodoric decided to keep the Goths separated from the Roman majority. They were bit like the Mameluks in Egypt, separate warrior caste. Basically all the conquerors tried to preserve their identity, but because of that, their numbers remained small. Like 60, 80 000 warriors in total.
For example, the Vandals remained more or less hostile with the locals in the Africa, so when the Romans started their reconquista, Vandal armies were rather weak. Some Vandal kings tried to use local forces more, but then the old tribal elite would threat to overthrow them
