I have considered implementing the character differences before, and you're right that it wouldn't be too difficult to implement. I'm just thinking about at what point the mod would be doing too much. For example, if we expect the player to estimate the effect spoilage has on their food, why not Wurt's veggie bonus as well?
For newer players, figuring out little mechanics and optimizations like this is part of the fun. Like: what does my character like to eat and what is the benefit? And for more experienced players, the calculation is trivial.
Personally, I'm not too against including this feature, but it has to be worth it. Ideally, you would be able to decide yourself in the config, but then the issue remains in what the default behavior should be...
P.S. Gears already work while playing as WX.
