Reforged Eden 2 Beta
Transfer progress to new game
Is there a way to transfer progress into new game (for example, when new game is required to get new systems after update)? Not a vessels - there already is app for that. But instead, unlock points, player level, and completed missions.

95% sure the answer is no.
There are console commands that will give you unlock points and levels, though I'm pretty sure the one to give levels will also unlock everything in the tech tree up to that level as well. No way that I know of for mission progress beyond the sections the game already allows you to manually complete in the PDA

There is no safe way to do this. I don't recommend it at all. Don't use that app to do it. You're going to break everything even trying.

Instead, just use console commands to spawn your blueprints and items to give you a head start.
Do not use the change mode command, however. Never ever use that.
I did as ravien_ff suggested last week. A power outage in my area caused my entire save to completely disappear, so had to start a new game. In the effort to not cheat too much, I cc'd my starter base and two SV's that I had. I did not cc the CV. I still had to start over as far as lvl's, etc. Not to mention all that loot that I lost.

Right now I'm back pretty much to where I was, and dreading the next power loss. I backup after most sessions now.

This is why people need to use a UPS.

United Parcel Service would deliver my stuff back to me?

LOL, no in this case "UPS" stands for "Uninterrupted Power Supply." It's a battery back-up, basically, combined with surge protection, which will keep your computer running long enough to save and properly shut down after a power out. Before we went off-grid (so we don't get power outages anymore, unless we deplete batteries), I had one because we were always getting brown- and black-outs because of rural living and antiquated power infrastructure.

Thanks. I knew UPS had to do with something about power, but couldn't figure it out. Even though I had looked into those systems a few months ago. I guess I should have gotten one back then.

If I may, and assuming you're on solar. How many panels (size?) and batteries do you have? It's a thought for my eventual future once obligations are done here.

I can strongly strongly recommend a UPS to everyone. You can get them for around $100-$150 or so. A very small price to protect your multi thousand dollar investment not to mention the incalculable value of your data and work.
Yeah, I would recommend a UPS for anyone on a power grid, but especially one that is prone to outages. Not only will it save your games, but it will prolong the life of your computer, and I think they're less than $100 these days.

As for us...Yup, solar, but we live in a tiny house (425 sq. ft) that we built 90% by ourselves. The entire roof is solar tiles, and we have two batteries (in case one fails). If both are full and something happened where there was no sun to recharge them, it will last us about a week with our normal usage, more if we cut back. We don't usually have a problem with running out because we live in SW Colorado, which is a very sunny, near-desert climate. But, we also have a large backup diesel generator, just in case both batteries fail. Back-ups are always good. The only bad thing about solar roofs is that you have to keep the roof clear, which isn't so hard in milder climates, but we get a lot of snow, so...

Anyway, what you'll need if you switch will greatly depend on your usage, which is a personal thing dependent on the size of your house and family, as well as just your habits and the kind of appliances you use. For instance, if you currently use electricity for heating/cooling and cooking/water-heating, you might want to consider switching out to gas for at least some of those instead, as all of those are HUGE power drains. If you're addicted to small kitchen appliances like microwaves and air fryers and coffee-makers, those also use a lot of power, so you might want to give up all or some of them or at least not use them as much.

We have an air fryer that we use a lot, but no microwave or electric coffee-makers, and the heating, water heating, and all of our kitchen appliances -- including the fridge -- are propane. And since we live high in the mountains, we don't need air conditioning. We're just two old, happy lesbians with our two dogs and two cats, living a simplified life, and most of the electricity we use is for lighting, TVs, the damned air fryer, and computers, stuff that you can't power with gas. LOL

There are online calculators that you can use to determine what equipment you'd need for your personal situation, assuming that you know how much power you typically use, but when we built the house we hired a consultant to help with getting what we needed with comfortable backups in place. We didn't want to risk not having what we'd need in a pinch, so we wanted to work with someone with more knowledge than we had. Switching is initially quite expensive, especially if you also switch out your heater, kitchen appliances, etc., so you'll need some funds up-front to do it, but it does pay for itself pretty quickly.
Thanks. That's quite a lot to consider. Just to say though, this 3 story house will not be the one I'll be in when the time comes. My plans, such as they are, would be more like a small cabin/cottage in the woods. Preferably a south facing hillside. Likely still here in Maine, but away from the coast. I like sandy beaches, not stinky seaweed encrusted rocks.

I can do simple easily enough. But right now I'm caring for my 93 yr. old mother in her house. That's the obligation I mentioned. She seems determined to meet her end right here in the house. So here I am for likely another 10 yrs. She's from a pretty long lived family.

But when the time comes, know this. I will not give up my one cup of coffee in the morning...

Thanks for the info.
I also use a UPS box on my computers. Three of them for three computers, actually.

They last several years, and then most allow you to replace just the battery.

By the way, don't buy the cheapest. Instead get one around the mid-range price.

I have used them for decades and they have "saved my ass" many times.
