Ship weapons question - "Base Damage" vs "Damage"
Some weapons have a "Base Damage" property listed that has a significantly different number from the "Damage" number listed for the ammunition.

For example: the "Positron Blaster Cannon (Heavy)" shows a Base Damage of 800 Hit Points, but the ammo for that weapon is "Positron Accumulator" that shows 15,000 Damage.

I've read that "The average damage per minute (DPM) and CPU cost of all weapons within a tier is normalized" but also "There are some exceptions to this for more unique weapons."

So... how can we go about figuring out the DPM for various weapons? If we're trying to calculate DPM which value is the one to use, do we calculate using Weapon "Base Damage" or Ammunition "Damage"?

It'll be the damage on the weapon. The ammunition damage is almost always the same, unless it's shared by another weapon and the two weapons are of different type (launched vs hitscan).

The "exceptions" are unique weapons like the Tesch Blaster Turrets, Phalanx Cannon, Sentinel Flak and other things that don't appear in the normal tech tree group.
