Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Reforged Eden 2 Beta
RE2 Legacy CVs
... don't compare RE1 numbers to RE2 ...

Core 17+ (advanced) ship and while I could handle most of the Zirax challenges (not the Tovera) I flat out got squashed by an Infector in my first RE2 encounter with the Legacy. I seemed to be able to handle RE1 Infectors and Devastators ok but I had no idea how buffed they would be in RE2. RE1 Infector with 14 disruptors each with 7500 HP and 2750 damage versus their RE2 counterparts with 35000 HP and likewise 2750 damage. But add the deviators with a whopping 4000 damage (0.5 of which just cuts through a shield) plus the corruptors with 3000 damage (only 0.125 penetration) and I might just go back to RE1 Eradicators for relief. And take a shield power of 85000 in RE1 and inflate to 150000 in RE2 and you get an Infector that probably could eat a RE2 Tovera's lunch. My ship is max'd on shield and is only as good as the Infector's. Plus the best shield penetrator I can get is 0.1 on a heavy railgun slug. Maybe the intent is to keep these for MP only and I completely respect that. Dune Awakening clearly drew a line in the sand for solo players and maybe Legacy space is that boundary in RE2. No worries! Plenty of other things to have fun with. Amazing scenario

Lots of people can take out RE2 Legacy ships solo, but they are meant to be the literal hardest content in the scenario so yeah they will be hard.
You'll want to rely on a heavily armored ship to take them out rather than shields alone. So ship design is a big part of it.

That gives me hope sir. Many thanks. Artemis' ships are pretty armored and decoyed and probably somebody with his skill can take apart Legacy ships with ease. I'm not that skilled so I'll just steer clear.

His style usually requires you to fly in a certain way, but there's other ship designs more focused around tanking them too I know are on the workshop. Might not be as popular or easy to find though.

Now that you mention it, I was a big fan of your partner's workshop offerings in RE1 (good old Forge Aeorspace). Maybe one of you could come up with some designs that show us what is needed to take on those Legacy villains. Looking forward to it!

Legacy ships are not too hard if your ship is well designed. Armor is the primary defense against their 50% shield penetration. But having lots of shields is still beneficial. Having the right armor and decoys is the key to survival. But you'll still need sufficient weapons to take down their shield and kill them. My personal preference is the Heavy Laser, as it does the most shield damage and has excellent block damage, plus it's hit scan. But it's trickier to use since it doesn't do splash damage, so you need to be pretty consistent with your aiming. It's really dependant on your playstyle. I fight within 200m from my target so I can see the exact block I need to hit, but others prefer fighting at longer range, so it'd be hard to target the exact block. Also you'll need to know the exact location of the core too.

Other easier option would be Heavy Plasma which is more balanced weapon. It does acceptable shield damage and you can blow things up at a distance with it.

My ship is very well designed. The guy flying it, not so much :Khappy:

Don't forget the target painter which might help you see what to target.

And those target painters work great .... for non-Legacy opponents. But with an Infector now sporting disruptors at 240 rpm while the RE1 only went at 4 rpm I'm finding myself "blinded by the light". Good thing I don't suffer from epilepsy.

Also, not looking for any change or nerf of these ships. It is simply a question of boundaries in a sandbox game. The areas are clearly marked as Ultra difficulty. Now I fully understand what that means in RE2.

Its honestly not as hard as it makes it out to be, you just have to be flying the appropriate ship, and what constitutes an "appropriate ship" depends on your strategy. For example, I mostly tend to use ArtemisRouge's ships, which are meant to be fast/agile. Also, the primary purpose of his ships are to core the NPCs. So you need to know exactly where to shoot.

I don't consider myself a great gamer, but I didn't have too much difficulty in Legacy space: I knew where the cores were on each ship, so I'd go in, blast at the appropriate spot, disengage to let my shields recharge, then go back in.
