Noob question - can't get to the core on Kiuvera-Class
I'm trying to access the core of a Zirax ship I recently took down. It's completely surrounded by blocks and glass, and none of my weapons are damaging them. My multi-tool indicates that there's a foreign core inside. I'm puzzled because I've previously shot down this ship and managed to reach the core. Would explosives be effective? I left them on my carrier. How can I access the core? It seems like an easy solution that we'll all find amusing! :)

Which ship? Depending on your answer it may have multiple cores! In RE1 there was only ever 1 core in ships and POI's. That's been turned on it's head now, and a lot of upper tiered ships and POI's now have multiple cores taht need to be removed before the vessel/poi is "dead"!

It's just a Kiuvera-Class so I'm pretty sure there's only one core.

Pretty sure the basic CPU extender on top can be broken to access the core.

There was an improved CPU extender positioned above and one block away, but it was unbreakable. The block directly above it was made of hardened steel. I tried to break every block with my standard weapons but had no success. Eventually, I decided to use my "poi buster" SV equipped with a light rail gun to break the glass surrounding the core. If anyone discovers a different method, please share! The core becomes quite obvious once you're inside, so this isn't really a spoiler.

A lot of cores that are surrounded by glass often have a hidden access. It might be small but enough to get an explosive inside, or a crack you can shoot through. ymmv

CPU Extenders are destructible to most hand weapons since they're devices, not hull blocks. You could most definitely break the CPU extender; but only if you'd disabled the ship's shields.
