You can use your emergency/suit constructor to make an Water/O2 Condenser. It will require fuel to work. Biodiesel will work. In RE2 it's called the Atmospheric Condenser

Dehydration cannot appear alone. It is caused as a side effect of Heatstroke, or when status effects (Fever and Hangover) time out.
It deals no damage, and only reduces movement speed by 15% and depletes stamina.

It's likely due to you standing somewhere that's hot enough to cause Heatstroke. In which case, it's going to keep happening unless you go somewhere colder or wear better protection.

Atmopheric condenser creates only oxygen, not creates water. In description said about water but not said how make it,

Put fuel into the Atmospheric Condenser and then wait. It takes a while.
I would make at least three AC's.

Name and function of any status effect displayed on the HUD is not something we can add because it's not already part of the game.
You can see your status effect's name and function via the inventory > stats and mousing over the icon.

Dehydration does not kill you in 10 minutes. It does not SAY it will kill you in 10 minutes.

The water condenser alternates between creating water and oxygen bottles. You just put fuel in it and wait.

I have to add to this. Had the "same" thing happen yesterday or day before that.
I got attacked by spiders, got some status that went away with bandages and then I went into a status where it told me "I have to drink water or tea". Not exactly that but like that. And it was water, tea and a third something I could drink to solve the problem, it said.

I got water and drank like 3-5 bottles and the effect did not vanish.
It stayed the same. The description stayed the same.
But I have no idea if I should mention this in the normal forum or here.
Just saw this thread and thought it matched so much... so I'll add my info.

Update: btw, I died that day from thirst -> hungry -> no health.

If this happens again please immediately take a screenshot. Don't leave the area. Get a screenshot of the area and a screenshot with your inventory open showing the status effect.

I'll never again go to a "Cave", see spiders and think XP for my shotgun.
Instead... I'll run :-)

Both dehydration and food poisoning share the same icon (picture of a stomach) Spiders cannot give either of those status directly - fever (pink box, head on fire), poison (blue box with a skull and x-bones bottle) Infected wound (yellow box with a hand and microbes), on top of the universal melee risks of broken bones or open wounds.
