Vanilla Factions Expanded - Deserters

Is there a way to undo the permanent hostility of the Empire?
For starters, I saw the warning. I know you're intended to never get back on the Empire's good side after allying yourself with the Deserters. I'm not a big fan of stuff like that, though (like permanent save file changes) and I want to know if there's a way to God mode or dev mode replace it.

I saw people going into the DLC folder and adding the player faction to the exception list of Empire allies - but that's without Deserters. Considering it's hardcoded into Deserters (and Cherry Picker isn't back yet, besides I don't know if Cherry Picker would even allow this) I want to ask and made sure I'm not just completely corrupting my save. That's literally the opposite of what I want to do lol.

If you want even more reasoning; my current colony didn't really "ally" with the Deserters. A deserter just so happened to run up stream and the loyalty squad chasing them decided to try to kill a insect nest instead of their chosen target. My colony's not on good /terms/ but they're not trying to take down the Empire and a lot of them have aspirations to even join the Empire (VE Aspirations). Sure, I could pull the "Empire doesn't care get nuked" card, but I like playing as the Empire and I have Deserters installed for the added faction and compatibility between them.

I also tend to play generations. If all the Deserters get murdered and replaced with the most loyal pawns of the Empire, why would the Empire want to drone strike them? It just makes it seem like the Emperor can't make up their mind.

Edit: Rereading some of the description to see if I missed something, I noticed that one of the FAQ questions mentioned "actively harboring a deserter". If I got rid of the lass who ran up the river, would my faction automatically be unallied with the Deserters?

im currently trying to do this too and it seems like the mod des the hostile check over and over again. even after editing the savefile - in the moment the save is loaded the players factions opinion towards the imperium is set to -100 again.

really sucks this is so irredeemable. i bet killing the deserter leader would calm the empire down, i was a double agent all along.

Precisely! Give me backstabbing opportunities!
Maybe if I get better at modding, I can make my own mod.

Hella late to the party, but there is an option to switch sides. If you get far enough along the Deserter questline (I believe after killing the Duke is when you start getting this), you'll get a join offer from the Empire after every successful assassination. You get a lump sum of honor and some other goodies, and the empire stops hating you, but you become permanently hostile with the Deserters, who send a raid in retaliation for you betraying them.

Oo, I didn't know that. That still defeats the purpose (the irredemmiable-ness of the actions) but I like there's a failsafe halfway into their questline.

this is not truth, I had that quest, and accept imperial offer.
but the mod doesn't care. Relationships still remain hostile. The faction window still shows the maximum relationship of -100. No debug mod or save editing test can fix this. And the funniest thing is that the deserter faction is supposed to raid you in retaliation. BUT the Imperial faction flies in for retaliation. This is just idiocy
