Is there a list of stations?
I keep trying to make stations to do things and they come out something else. I tried to make a scrap market and it came out a turret merchant. I really had no use for one of those where I am so I guess I'm stuck with it now until it explodes.

I have no idea how to build anything that makes scrap metal to fuel my steel factory. I really have no idea how to build much of anything at all because founding stations seems to turn them into kinda random things. (It happened before and I wasnt interested in it enough at the time to try to figure out what went wrong)

Yup, in-game encyclopedia.

Below <Quick Notes> there's "Economy Stations" section with all goods/stations listed.

You're looking for "Extraction" economy in case of Scrap Metal

Thanks for pointing that out. I do have a question tho, maybe It's a bit too much of a newb question but I dont see how to tell what an economy is without the sector already having a faction operating in it. On an empty sector, how would I tell what the "economy" will be so I know what stations will go up?

There's a galaxy scanner feature, if a sector is in range on galaxy map.

At the bottom left corner of the map, there's a window with scanned data, tech level, materials, resources, economy(if present), asteroids, nebula.

That information will be saved (and become searchable in galaxy map view) on visit - or, on scan if that sector has been discovered by Faction Map or Scout captain order.
