Fighter and Turret Classes?
Another question, when trying to build fighters, the game says for some turrets, they are too high a class to place on a fighter. The problem, I am having, is there is nothing i can find that describes what class the turret is. How/where do you find that information?

There's a number in naming like, SMG-1 , AC-3 , R4-IL - those are related to class system, M1, M3, M4.

Encyclopedia might need some refreshing now, but this was mentioned somewhere in there.

How do the names relate to ship classes? I have a 'Heavy P-RBE-1-C that is above M3-Vanguard, so I assume its not the number. A 'Heavy RBE-5-A' is also above M3, so I assume not the letter. Is it some system of both?

Apologies, P-RBE-1 is M1 class, and should be available for fighters. That's a bug.

The only exception is with repair/defensive turrets, their M3 variants cant be used.
