Pathfinder Adventure Card Game TTS FAQ

Gameplay Questions

Q. How do I get started? What do I need to play?

A. The setup and automation instructions can be found on the white cards in the common tray at the top of the table. Campaign materials, extra characters, and other content are found within the colored bags. Start by selecting an Adventure Path within the green bag in the top tray. Within each path you can find the stack of Adventure B cards amongst the materials. Drop that stack on the sorter and filter by Basic so that the discard piles will have what you need to create characters. Every adventure rulebook comes with a suggested starter deck for each character. Look for a separate copy of those recommendations in the Adventure Path materials.

Q. How should I use the character add-ons, promos, Iconic Heroes cards, or Ultimate Combat decks?

A. These card collections are mostly optional additions to the game that you can choose to add if you want to. Simply include them as part of the appropriate tier of campaign cards. The character add-on deck has the cards required to support large parties of 5-6 players, but also includes some special equipment. The promos are unique cards that were offered to players throughout PACG development. The Iconic Heroes deck features cards that are specific to each character, and can be added to their decks during character creation. The Ultimate Combat decks have a variety of specialist equipment that are useful for a whole class of characters, as well as an extra character that can make particular use of them. These cards can be freely added to any campaign as you wish. My suggestion would be to start by adding the relevant character add-on and promo cards for your Adventure Path, and the Iconic Heroes cards for each character in the party.

Q. What is a Class Deck and how should I use them in my campaign?

A. Class Decks, also called Character Decks, are optional character expansions that are designed for organized play. The idea is that the host provides the campaign cards, while each player brings the cards used by their character. First create your character using the cards from the Class Deck, then set aside the remaining cards. Play each session using the character deck as well as the host’s campaign cards. At the end of each session you rebuild your character using only the cards from your Class Deck - according to the Pathfinder Adventure Card Society rules. Alternatively, you may add the Class Decks directly into your campaign, though this may disrupt the balance of the game by including too many generic or highly-specialized cards.

Q. What is an ACG Season / Pathfinder Adventure Card Society?

A. The PACS is a method of organized play that brings together people who don’t always play together in a campaign. The ruleset allows players to try out a wide variety of character types and upgrade them individually. Each Adventure Society Season offers players a new way to experience their existing campaign sets.

Q. How do I track Mythic Charges in the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path?

A. There is no default way of keeping track of these charges, but a variety of optional gems and token bowls are provided in the WotR campaign materials to help with this unique mechanic. Place a bowl full of gems at the top of the table, and an empty bowl into each character tray - then add or remove a gem for each Mythic Charge as needed.

Q. Am I interpreting the rules correctly on this card?

A. Paizo has provided a variety of detailed FAQs that help correct or clarify the language for each of the Adventure Paths. They include everything from missing card traits to re-written rulebook entries.

Technical Issues

Q. I’m getting errors about “Could not find location”, “Could not find villain”, or “Attempt to index a nil value” associated with the Blessings deck when using the Build Scenario button.

A. The mod scripting requires Full Physics to be enabled to drop each card into its correct place. Check your settings and make sure that it is not set to Locked or Semi-Lock.

Q. The scenario builder doesn’t include enough Henchmen or other cards, and/or doesn’t provide the last location with a Henchman or a Villain.

A. This is likely because your campaign deck lacks enough copies of the needed cards. Try replacing any missing cards with duplicates. If you are playing with more than four players, be sure to include the related Character Add-on deck since it includes the cards needed to support 5-6 players.

Q. A specific card won't go into my hand

A. Each TTS object must be allowed to enter your hand. This prevents assets from entering your hand that shouldn't. If a card is set incorrectly, you can fix it by right-clicking the object and toggling the Enable Hand option.

Q. The card sorter won't sort some cards, or they are sorted into the wrong pile.

A. First try dropping the cards back onto the sorter. Sometimes network lag can cause it to make mistakes. Otherwise, some Adventure Paths feature card types that the sorter isn't configured for by default. Extra table slots are included to deal with these cards manually. The setup cards explain how to edit the labels in order to support additional card types automatically. Advanced users can also employ the labeler in the tool bag for changing card descriptions and adding custom classes.

Q. A card has the wrong back when flipped, or a card name is displayed when face down.

A. TTS objects use the "Hide Face Down" toggle to govern these sorts of situations, and this toggle can be unexpectedly modified when added to a deck stack (such as when grouping cards, sorting, etc.). If a flipped location card is set to "Hide Face Down" (TTS default behavior) then it will show the generic PACG card back, rather than its custom one. If a villain card is not hidden, then it will display a tooltip indicating its object name even when flipped. To fix these behaviors, spread out the cards individually, right click on the the affected card(s), and choose the correct setting.

Q. Some of the cards aren’t loading correctly, or the automated builder / sorter scripting isn’t working as expected.

A. This mod draws from a wide variety of sources and sometimes the data isn’t downloaded correctly onto your computer. This can cause errors that are difficult to troubleshoot. Try restarting the application and loading a fresh save from the Steam Workshop.

Q. Does this mod support my operating system?

A. This game has been played successfully with Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Some minor issues were experienced, such as the Linux distribution needing font library support.
