I'm afraid I don't really understand what issue you're experiencing. A straight male pawn will not propose marriage to a male pawn, but he may propose marriage to a gay female pawn. If it wasn't marriage, there are circumstances which can lead to an interaction with the wrong gender. This is intended and can happen if pawns are bored or don't have anyone of the correct gender to interact with.
Regarding the orientations, changing the settings will only effect new pawns, it won't change anything for existing pawns. So for best results, you need to change the settings before starting a new game. You can always use Character Editor to change the traits if you don't like the orientations in an existing game.
Additionally, if you have any race mods that include a patch for Way Better Romance, they can set orientation chances that will override user settings for that race. I have plans to make race settings visible and eventually adjustable by the user, but in the meantime you can always edit the xml patch for the race mod.
If none of this addresses your issues, please provide more detailed information about what exactly you're experiencing. If you think something is broken, please provide a HugsLib log so I can look for conflicts in your mod list.
And of course i'm totally conscient that changes must be done before game start for best results. This what i did in all my test-runs.
I made several short runs on dev-map but also standart maps with vanilla but also self-made xeno-races in this case. Never used modded races since Biotech came out.
In my experience, and that's why my post here, i had several pawns getting upset because proposing marriage to the "wrong" orentiation. In some cases straight protagonist trying to doing marriage proposal to same gender.
Also in longer runs, where i let standart mod settings, after some time, my pawns ended still all women together on one side, all males together on the others.
I realised this in particular while testing out the new kids, and as we know all, this may work better with mixed couples. ;)
I know genders and relationships are tricky, and like said in my post, i know also that current trend for most players is having bi, queer and less "tradittional" couples. Still the settings should matter.
I used also Character Editor a few time, still mostly avoided changes trough it, and chosed the gender i wanted for my tests with traditonal starter pawns. Not sure how much changes trough Character Editor are reliable, and taken in account by the game. This i could understand very well, some changes are hard to do. But again, mostly starter pawns with a given orientation for test.
I run your mod in most of my runs, simply because i love it, and it give bit more interactions and fun, but this is one of the little problems i ran into in my different trials. Maybe some vanilla behavior hidden and interfering with some settings, i don't know.
Hope i was more or less clear in my explanation. English isn't my mother-language, so it may sound bit gibberish by moment, my bad.
Tks again for the great mod, and have a great day !
