A child with instability may get one of several events every year - if the aura is enhanced, they may also lose some instability instead of an event. Within the events, the instability can also decrease - as long as the guardian is competent - but this usually involves the risk of a magical eruption, i.e. getting hurt or exploding.
Apart from the initial condition, potential does not matter for either the child or the guardian.
If you only have 10% of unstable sources dying, that's a great result :o

Yes, such an event can happen - if the person responsible for the child (usually the guardian) is a demon. The guardian must have at least 10 XP in the demon trait for the option to be available... but there is no guarantee that such an event will occur, it is random.
