what is the VFEexpansion it says it needs now?

The patch version is only if you use VFE (Vanilla firearms expansion). If you use vanilla weapons, just use the "Improvised Silencers by Maxwell218" one.

I've got it running here and my M9 pistol with silencer is still making firing sounds as if the silencer wasn't added.

Yep! Mod Manager has it load below VFE in the modlist. Im not using it on a new save though; although the original Improv Silencers mod has been disabled (in lieu of the VFE patch version).

What silencer are you using along with the m9?
And could you sent me a screenshot via imgur or any img host of your mod order/modlist?

I can't seem to reproduce the bug with all silencers and m9 with just my mod and VFE enabled.

Ok so it's a normal silencer found in a crate; it shows up fine on the pistol but the firing sound is the same in pitch/volume; there's also the flash behind the silencer when shooting (although I think you acknowledge this in the main page?).

UPDATE - Turns out my loaded savegames weren't loading in the new VFE patch; with Modmanager I've loaded them in and the sound is working great ;)

Using the VFE patch with VFE and the muzzle flash mod and I am getting various items (not just guns) sometimes spawing without colour/textures. No other item mods and never noticed it before so I'm pretty sure it's this or VFE itself. Is this a know issue with either mod?

I'm using both VFE and the muzzle flash mod along with my patch and haven't encountered it yet. Since it's affecting items from the vanilla game as well I would verify the game integrity.

Integrity check came back fine, I'll go through the mod list and do some testing. Thanks for the quick response.
