some tips if you've got problems
Here are some helpful tips if you can't win (hover over text, it's hidden):

  • Animals: Winters are quite short, so disable feeding in the stables to save grain and straw. In my experience, 75-90% of animals will survive through protection from the cold and drink/eat in spring to save themselves. Build the stables close to water and grass so they don't die in spring!
  • Buildings: Don't build too many buildings, only just enough - you will need to repair them with straw and if the traders screw you over by not bringing enough, all your buildings will collapse!
  • Cave lions: Killing only adult cave lions (red in primal vision) will eventually result in only young lions remaining - they are not aggressive and won't attack. This will stop them from killing your children and animals.
  • Trading: You don't have to trade tools only - stone is worth 3 credits with traders as well as plain iron, you can get a lot of food in exchange for stone which is just lying around. Dry skin is worth 1 credit, but you will have so many skins and little leather that it's worth using them as coins.Build a lot of skin dryers!
  • Wood: Buy all the wood you can get from the traders. Just chop down any fruit trees - the few calories are not worth saving them. Don't produce coal - just buy it! You need the wood for building and repairs!
