spawn note with player
So. This may be easier to follow than in the comments. I have been waiting for this feature for a while now. as well as the perminent notes that you did. really cool idea with the tape.

Anyway, I added the lines in my init.c and tried restarting and then killing myself to respawn and cannot get a note in my inventory. grateful for any info.

well my problem was due to expansion overriding init.c character spawn items.
