The combat bots spawn in floating. Which doesn't work very well. When pushed to a deck, their mag boots work, but they either need to jetpack down, or spawn close to the floor.

Not only combat-bots need jetpacks - repair-bots and scrap/scavenger-bots need them even more in space. Without a jetpack they are actually useless in open space.

Or am I doing something mistaken...

Make sure you have AllowHelpersToFly enabled in the admin mod menu. I recently updated it to ensure that they spawn with jetpacks enabled when possible, and doubly so if they are in zero-g
