The RoboFactory explained
Hi, so I've seen some questions about how things work (or don't) with regard to the RoboFactory. Hopefully this helps to alleviate your concerns.

  • Players must be in a faction in order to purchase a companion bot
  • Players must have enough Space Credits to purchase a companion bot
  • Players must have fewer companion bots than the maximum (server config)
  • If you see "Capacitors Charging" that means the mod is currently performing background work and should be ready to spawn your bot after a few seconds
  • If it is NOT ready within a few seconds, you may need to clean the old identities out of your save file; I've written an app to do this for you, linked in the pins of my discord channel

Will the companion limit be something configurable by moderators/admins in the future? Or will it be hard-coded?

Great! Thanks for the quick reply - would love having some extra little repair helpers, especially if they could do small-grids - having them move around in a hangar repairing all fighters after a battle would look so cool!

I wanted to add this here as well - can we add configuration for the price. I love this mod, but my server uses more expensive ammo/magnesium market. So 10k SC for free ammo is not good.

Configure? You just place the block and use the interface :)

This FAQ is great but I'd love if it was higher up. Especially the needs to be in a faction caveat should definitely be in the mod description

There is no more room for text in the description. The block itself will tell you if you are not in a faction when you try to use it.

Where in the config file can I change the limit for companion Bots?

My config file either states 16 or 32 Bots are the limit, but ingame I get an error message "you already have 2 companion bots"

so either im in the wrong config file or cant find the correct line for it

That’s the wrong config file - you’re looking at the SE config, this uses the mod’s config file.

The location is listed under the Issues section of the guide, and you want the AiEnabled.cfg file.
