managed to find a solution and solved the problem, this probably wont work with everyone but hope it helps

after activating the command in the description when it is inputed in the console (pressing enter after typing set_setting debug_hotkeys_enabled 1)

open on screen keyboard but run it as administrator

pressing the PgUp button or PgDn buttons while the game is selected and unpaused it should be able to remove and add biomass

(note: have the console menu open when applying biomass to use on screen keyboard if it does not work when pressing it normally ingame with it)
