Crusader Kings III

Princes of Darkness
Min Maxxing Development growth
Hey guys!

So I've been mostly playing tall in my current game, growing my unremarkable 11 dev backwater into a regional city of 20 dev over the course of 60 years.

While this is still pretty quick by vanilla standards (if you consider that the development growth button for the steward is gone) I feel like there's a way I can increase growth even further. I was able to keep an average growth rate of 2.1 thanks to the cathar and byzantine event bonuses, as well as some other small bonuses and a pretty decent steward that would cause it to fluctuate over time.

Is there anything else I can do to keep this going? I want my city to be larger than most.

Not much. Growth is more out of way the way for vampires (vampires aren't benevolent businessmen helping their communities grow or whatever vanilla's direct control control over growth is supposed to represent). You have some rare wonders bonus (Rome, Paris), some rare dynasty perks, some rare court positions (Salubri primogens) or some other small events stuff and such.
For a vampire growth focused game, the two usual options are Razkoljna (which has special content to directly impact growth) and Yorak (same, though... his growth is, well, way less benign than the usual one and represents something way more sinister).
I guess that makes sense-- vampires are parasites who take, they don't build or contribute, though I suppose there's a theoretical rational in which a vampire might want to build up their city to have greater access to their "livestock" and as a center of power from which they can expand their base.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely look out for those on my next playthrough.
From the stuff that was not mentioned directly, I'd stress development perks you get from Presence and Temporis and from manipulating the Shroud. See if you can get more clues there:

I did not get development bonus from dynasty perk and cultural bonuses could use a lot of work too, if it was priority. Only Muladi applied. And even Promissory Notes are not yet discovered.

PS I ghoul the Natural Philosophy guy so his bonus is kinda sorta permanent.
PPS You can't build Grand Temple in Rome itself obviously, but you can build it in Vaticano. Same is true for Cairo/Haluwan, etc.
PPPS Cordoba Mosque deserves honorary mention, giving +0.2 to your campital's development. But you either need a proper faith or enforce proper syncretism tenet.
Damn, this is really useful! I didn't realize presence and temporis had those bonuses. I'm not sure how to manipulate the shroud, but I'll certainly look into it.

I actually embraced the natural philosophy guy because of how great his overall stats were. He's become a useful member of my court, and technically my most powerful childe, since I embraced him after I diablerized a few people.
Bottom right of the Umbra panel. You need Shroud Mastery perk from Giovanni Necromancy tree.
