can you elaborate? like are you able to select the map, but once you get in-game it crashes or something along those lines?
Refer to the FAQ entry regarding this issue.
This theoretically should never happen. Another mod (or you) may have modified an xml file that controls the time as well as how fast the game progresses or you may be starting it wrong (refer to the imgur album of instructions I posted in the main page comments). I also need you to do some things for me.
Here's what I need you to do:
1) Validate your game files through steam.
2) Let me know what mods you are using. List all of them.
3) Upload your copy of the map file the issue is happening on (e.g. if it only occurs on the research enabled map, upload that one, if it occurs on both just upload both of them). Your copies of the maps are located in C:\Users\______\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps
To upload:
1) Go to http://www.sendspace.com/ (it doesn't really matter which website you use but we'll use this for now because it's pretty hard to ♥♥♥♥ this up)
2) Click on "Browse"
3) A windows explorer window will appear. In the navigation bar, paste in "C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps" without the quotes and with your windows username replacing the template.
4) Select the "1900 World Redux 2.3 (Disabled Research).Civ5Map" file.
5) Select "Open" in the lower right hand corner of the windows explorer window.
6) In your web browser on the website, select "Upload"
7) Once the upload is complete, a screen will appear with two links. Copy and paste the download link.
Once you're done with this, validate your game files through steam. Let me know if steam tells you that some files failed to validate and will be redownloaded.
I checked over your copy of the map and there are no abnormalities when it comes to when the starting date is defined. Nobody else has reported this problem and I honestly cannot see a legitimate reason as to why it would occur besides either A) somebody attempting to run the map outside its normal parameters or B) a leftover xml modification from another mod that didn't get properly reversed when the mod was deactivated - furthermore, having exhausted these options I cannot help but think that this is a problem on your end.
At this point short of me being physically present at your computer and looking through your mod and game files, there's nothing more I can do for you.
the FAQ tells me to find .Civ5Map file but its not there have i not downloaded it properly?
Upload your save file on the turn it's crashing at and tell me which AI's turn it occurs on. No ETA on a fix; so far I've gone through 5 or so things that I think could be causing it but I haven't found a definitive smoking gun yet.
You haven't downloaded it properly. Which directory are you checking for the .civ5map file?
Something went wrong when you subscribed to the mod on the workshop and the mod wasn't downloaded properly. Check and make sure you're not missing your .xml and .modinfo files. After that, go to the mediafire link in the description and download everything in there except for the backup folder. Put the files you downloaded from the mediafire link into the "1900 World Redux (v 59)" folder from the file path you mentioned earlier.
What .civ5map folder?
