a separate version is planned for people without dlc in the near future
@McTav
no it shouldn't; it federated in 1901
a separate version will be created come next patch; first I have to fix a few bugs that get enabled when research is on
1. France and Belgium's African colonies shouldn't border Ethiopia. I'm not sure the best way to represent Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, whether as British territory or Egyptian, but given that British policy in Africa was largely determined by the desire for a Cape to Cairo telegraph line & railway, I think Sudan ought to be included somehow. (In the same vein, maybe the Congo shouldn't border Mozambique - give South Africa or Britain territory in between perhaps?)
2. Alaska seems overpowered with 8 cities, even if they are all terrible. Maybe reduce it to Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau? (Is it possible to extend city borders beyond five tiles? If not, keep Kodiak as well I guess.)
3 Going off drumfella's comment, maybe you should delete Canberra and make Melbourne the capital of Australia? Or if not, you should at least make Canberra like, size 1.
Great map by the way :) The customs houses on the US-Mexican border are a nice touch lol.
1) Good thoughts on your first point. I'll look into it; more than likely it'll get included in the next patch.
2) The reason Alaska has so many cities is due to the fact that if there are only 3 or so, Washington really, really, really likes to settle new ones - thus you get cities with names that are completely out of place, like Detroit, Chicago, Washington, etc. in Alaska. I think this has to do a lot with the fertility score of Alaska considering how relatively rich in natural resources it is: in the next patch most of the cities will be removed, but so will most of the resources (so as to decrease Washington's desire to settle the area)
3) Changed in patch 2.0. At the time of your comment I'm pretty sure it was out already, but maybe not.
Thanks for the feedback!
afaik iceland became part of denmark in the 1800s after the napoleonic wars and didn't gain independence until 1918; norway (and thus by extension oslo) was part of sweden until 1905 - can you provide a reputable source to back up your claims?
