You want to look for ships with Lasers, your PD corvettes are your obvious and primary sources for that but not the only options either. The Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser (DHC) as an example is a good and versatile ship which carries a decent Anti-Fighter loadout in addition to it's Anti-Capital weapons.
Beyond that? Fleet formations. When enemy bombers make bombing runs on your ship they'll often fly past before coming back around for another pass. Sticking your PD corvettes in front of your ships helps when they're on the approach but keeping anti-fighter ships and PD corvettes in the backline will help a lot once the battle if fully engaged.
I think a bigger players piut fall is jsut thanks to the camera angle making it hard to gauge distance, and having the cr90s and such too close so while they are killing fighters they are also being shot at by enemy lasers
but like plop one or two fleet tenders asnd the cr 90s will be safe from fighter focus
