Tutorial: How to backup and reset your world.
To fix any issue with planet generation I recommend backing up your storage folder then deleting it to allow for new planets to generate. Follow the steps below to perform the same system I use for developing the mods.

WARNING
This will remove all data such as explored planets, builds, and character saves from the existence make sure to back up your storage folder before deleting it.

Step 1
Navigate to your steam folder in most cases it will be under the following path unless you have installed it in another drive.

C:/ProgramFiles/Steam/steamapps/common/Starbound/

Step 2
Make a new folder called "Backups"

Step 3
Now you will want to right-click the "storage" folder and click "Send to" > compressed (Zip) Folder Rename the file to something you can remember for the saves you have on that game.

Name example: Planet Zoo

Step 4
This will zip your storage folder for later use, this would also be a good time to make a steam collection of all the mods used on those saves and then name the collection the same name you gave the zip file.

Step 5
After you have performed the back up of the mods you used on that game and the placed the storage folder save into the Backups folder you created you can safely delete the storage folder in the root Starbound folder.

Step 6
If you don't plan on using all of the mods you had on the other save I would suggest adding them to your favorites and unsubscribing to the mod so it does not run with the new game. Hens why we urge you to make a collection for the mods you used on that game.

Step 7
When done you can start your game knowing that the game files world universe and all-star systems have been reset including character data.

Actually, you can reset your worlds without losing characters by going into the storage folder and deleting the universe subfolder after backing it up. I would recommend that all characters are on their ships before doing this though, just to be safe.

Also, you can actually switch around the names of the .world files found in the universe folder to swap them. Make sure you keep backups of the original world files though.

Great tip Darlit_Glitch!

I recently have been working on the mod adding new features and I discovered this too. In the subfolder universe, there is a file with an extension of ".clientcontext" this stores the player's location in the universe, so if you leave that file you will stay in the same location when you start up the game, it should keep the same planet unless the seed changes for some reason due to planet changes or something like that.

Also for development, someone recommended a mod to skip the fist mission for faster testing, I will link to the mod below here. https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=849971477

Another tip for development is enabling admin mode this will allow you to travel without fuel costs and prevent you from taking damage from NPCs or hostile entities.
