Mod Development Notes, Issues, Plans, Etc.
Wanted to add a discussion thread for my mod notes, ramblings, suggestions, etc. I do actively develop this mod, but I want to be sure to "not fix what ain't broke" and keep the mod in scope of the original vision (functional decor related to companions).

Mod Goals and Scope:
  • Create alternative functional and less obtrusive ways to tame companions.
  • Keep it simple.
  • Only use 'light touch' in the dev kit so that the mod wont break every time Funcom sneezes.

Known Issues: as of 4/10/23
  • None! Woo-hoo! :cat_cool:

Wish List: as of 10/21/22
  • Cages to tame thralls - Done as a separate mod - Thrall Breaking Places.
  • Cages to act as holding cells for thralls - Testing ideas now. - Will be developed under Thrall Breaking Places.

Wish List on Hold: as of 10/12/22
  • Snap to sockets - I don't know where to start with this and it might bloat the number of items too much.
  • Baby animals when taming - Even funcom hasn't gotten that in yet... but I'll keep my eyes out for a solution.

Update on cages for thralls. - I have had success in testing this! :D:

However, due to the complexity of the mod, I am going to have it be a separate mod from this one. That way if something goes amiss this mod wont be out of commission. :meadowrabbit:

Once I have a few variants and test it a bit more, I will post the mod and notify folks here as well. The current working title is 'Thrall Breaking Places'. :meadowfox:

Edit: 10/21/22 - Wrapped up Thrall Breaking Places and posted it as a separate mod.

regarding the baby animals while taming, that would basically just be the same mechanic as when training thralls, isn't it possible to copy that in any way (same for thrall cages while we're at it)?
i don't know how failcom coded it so not sure if it would be possible that way but thought i'd throw in my thoughts in case it might lead to something =)

I will be releasing an update on Monday 4/10/23 that will fix the low stables not acting as stables. When I post this update all of the cages/stables will act as taming stations for horses AND companion animals. No more cross animal restrictions. :cat_cool:
Seems like this the 2025 update the cages no longer allow the automatic feeding and farming of materials?

My rocknoses aren't eating stone to spit out resources...
vanilla taming building still works fine, but even rebuilding a cage isn't letting them eat?

I'm not sure its this mod even..

Are there any news regarding the production issue and an update to solve this?
Just asking to keep the players of my servers informed, if they should replace their bases to get back to those huge, nasty vanilla taming pits just to be able to let their pets produce the resources they want/need.

I solved this by using pippi move tool to scale the vanilla taming pits down to about the size of cages, looks a bit odd, but so is 5 animals in that cage :D

That's a reasonable method for me as owner/admin, but not for the regular players on my servers. ;)

Yea, unless you can somehow get people to line up for your touch? but that would require A lot of hands on for you depending on the playerbase

I try to unplug from time to time so I am just getting back around to this.

Thank you for that additional insight with Pippi.... its... weird.... but it may help me in my testing.

It seems your fix was not done on the modded cages? Or was it just you using the ... eww... giant cages ... for production.

Got it tested and sorted. Thank you both for using this thread. I wont have the mod fully updated until .... likely tomorrow, but I feel confident that I can replicate my fix on the round cage across all the other taming places.
