Class Suggestion: Ammobearer
First of all, amazing work with the mod, it’s the thing I probably most play when it comes to Arma.
Please keep in mind this comes from an SP player and comes from experiences with both the Altis scenario and WW2 one, so this might be more of a problem in one than the other.

Recently I have had a lot of problem with squads running out of ammo after only single engagement or a particularly dragged out one, reason as to why I would like the ability to recruit Ammobearer’s.

How I would see this working is make it so the game checks the composition of the squad and what weapons they are using (for example if one of the squad mates has a M16 add about 60 rounds of M16 compatible mags, or on a MG since they burn ammo more increase the round count a fair bit more) and lastly would check the apparel with the highest space.

This would of course require for the Ammobearer to be recruited last, and there could be problems with the distribution of ammo if space is not sufficient, but I think it would be nicer than not having any, unless there is a way already to easily distribute additional ammo to AI, and now that I am reading this I am starting to think that maybe loading the vehicle with additional ammo before hand and using auto rearm maybe would do the trick.

I think the reason to not add scripting for ammobearer is that arma AI don't reload from each other unless ordered to by you the squad lead so it easier to script them to just re-arm off bodies
its the way arma AI are made they will sit there with no ammo and spot to the other AI which :P doesn't work anyways but that's arma for you .... so making an ammobearer would cause more problems then it would solve or at least that's my personal take on it i wouldn't want my AI getting up walking like they do in arma to another AI to say hey got a mag just to get shot anyways. They can't even path to you staying in cover to revive (EVEN IN STEALTH) , they don't crawl they will just stand up like "I'm superman bullets bounce off m" respawn there are no AI .... imagine then trying to pass ammo

Personally I don't put the Ai at such a high skill level that it might be a problem since I am playing SP alone and my AI does jack anyway (but it would be good if the AI still tried to be aware of the situation and focus on crawling instead of running like Flash across the battlefield).

But even the truck solution might generate problems or just be a pain to manage, like walking up to it all willy nilly in the middle of battle (it's probably not in a good cover spot) or having to baby sit it so it's always close to the squad, to the problems it would cause I don't know if I still would not use it just for the fact of having an ammo mule at all times close to the rest of the squad.

But I had no idea that apparently they don't use ammo bearers at all, tough that actually was programmed into the AI.

Of course all of that goes out the windows when the combat is over and you can safely rearm, my main issues is mid battle.

Better trained troops would miss less, meaning less ammo used :)
Seriously though, At the moment we don't know for sure how to edit the UI, however we are looking into it, so adding it as a new recruitable troop is a little unlikely in the short term. The scripting for such a behaviour is also another possible problem.
