I thought I'd start sharing development updates in this thread for any who might be interested. So, most recently I've been updating a floating text messaging system. I have an especially long description note about a particular tree in The Nameless City in Blaecavus. So I thought it would be good to split the floating text over several iterations rather than one massive chunk of text appearing in the console all at once.

In that regard, I modified the script to parse instances of "." to break out floating text in a loop. After a bit of back and forth and tweaking it should be working pretty well at this point.

In the mean time, in a previous update I removed the level check so that new players starting with a character over level 1 would still have the option to see dialog options from the narrator to learn about some peculiarities of the module related to the custom rest and death systems.

Unfortunately, I forgot to remove another related check meaning that characters over level 1 would not see *anything* in the dialog. This was fixed as part of the update I just made for floating text messages. So regression crisis averted, I guess?

Anyhow, I'll try to post an update to this thread with subsequent updates and maybe start tracking revision numbers properly in that regard.

So this new update I just posted is mostly about working out some of the details of the final sequence of the game. I have a dialog in place with a pseudo-cutscene where mages spawn in a forest and discuss a great upcoming peril. I won't go into much more to avoid spoilers.

Today's update is largely related to a series of a climactic cutscenes and battle sequences in Heldafer. I'm much closer to finishing the main storyline at this point. Here are some gaps that still remain...

- For the dwarf story, I'm halfway done with a quest that takes you to the surface and connects the dwarf storyline to the main one. I have the NPC that will take you to the mage academy. Just need to finish up the dialog and related scripting.
- At the end of the battle sequence in Heldafer, I plan to jump the player back to the Aldwin Estate and have a final dialog that serves as a kind of epilogue and wraps up some story threads.
- Fairies and elves are still very bare bones, although the main storyline now overlaps with both E'davlan and the south end of the Nertohrt Forest, so I will likely incorporate these race stories into the main line at relevant points.

In the meantime, the climactic battle sequence can be a little CPU-intensive, so if you're reading this and you manage to try it out, let me know how it performs on your system as I have experienced some frame drops and temporary freezes with all the craziness going on. And I'm torn, because I want all the craziness on the one hand. On the other, I'd rather not crash the game for folks just because I like a lot of pretty lights and what not.
