Former Dev's update on the mod so steam people shut up and stop speculating or spreading false information.
Amendment as of 12/30: Clearly Jeroen had more he wanted to do and ♥♥♥♥ has happened with the 5.0 leak.

Nothing is being "abandoned" people are just stupid and not including context or the rest of the news or anything else as it was talked about between the streams and on discord.

Basically the lead dev is finishing his own task (Space) before he moves on with his life outside of modding instead of taking another 2 years or more to solo rework the 2 other parts of the mod mostly from scratch.

The mod team has largely disbanded a year ago so there's only like 2 official people still on the team along with a few others who kinda help but do their own projects mostly outside of it.
So the coming space combat overhaul (Space Skirmish and Multiplayer) will be released as it's own separate mod page 4.0 will be reuploaded unto a new modpage so the complete mod remains for submods such as Clone Wars Holdouts and French Fried Taters for example as well as the upcoming Birth of a New Republic submod.

Most of the former full devs are still around and support those efforts. Myself for example left last year but still remain highly active supporting CWH while working on my own submod. Luke left a few months later and regularly helps with audio for CWH and BoaNR among other things. Kasderan left like a day before i did and has his own mod in the works and works with Republic at War. 1138 makes mod tools for the community which has been a massive boon.

Remake was a complete package in 2013 with 1.0 when it was mostly vanilla with better space battles and graphics when the name Remake actually made sense and was just a little side project from Old Republic At War just so Jeroen could use all the GCW era models he had made for the failed project that was YVaW. Everything since has been extra. Gaining me as full time GC map dev in 2017 and then booming into a larger team suddenly in 2019 to work on more areas such as AI, GC mechanics, reworking old models, audio that wasnt Mass Effect or Hans Zimmer music, and ground combat experiment here with 4.0

Thank you so much for the update! I was hearing otherwise in the discord. I think the main concern everyone has is just a fix for the GC auto resolve issues, is there any plan to fix that? I miss playing GC :(((

The focus should be on fixing crash on save loading after more or less 300 month ! That should be the main focus, as it is the main issue with the mod. It make the mod unplayable. Wish is really sad, as it an amazing mod !

Mods cant fix your save corruption issue. Which is what it means when you crash while loading a save. It corrupted at the time of saving which has been plaguing EAW even from before the devs updated the game and made saves slightly more reliable.

Always make a new save instead of saving over existing ones. If they are already corrupted(Which happens at any time) it will likely also be corrupted. Making a new one every time avoids that.

Also delete saves from time to time. The larger the saves list the longer saving takes and the menus can take a long time if there's corrupted saves in the saves folder.

Save often so if the newest save does corrupt you only lose an hour or two.

Hi EmperorNiko, thanks for the mod. It´s amazing. The mod works very well. But somehow the game just crashes, even though it sometimes works very well. Without an error message. And nothing spectacular happens. After 30 seconds from the save point, it crashes. Do you know what could be wrong?

Well I must admit, I never had such an issus like that before and I did play a lot to this game in the past. With many other mods as well. I don't understand, because all my save after 300 or so month just crash alll the time and I restart 3 playthrought with the mod. I rarely overwrite save, instead creating new and deleting old one. Mayby I havent been lucky. I don't know.

You have created a beautiful game. I love just watching the ships battle it out. It is so cinematic and fun to watch.

Dude explains how it's still being worked on until a new release is completed so by definition is not abandoned.

I did suspect that the devs would be getting very annoyed with the sheer amount of messages saying the game is broken.

Not really a bother. No one but me really even looked at Steam. We have a discord for a reason.

There's a difference between being ignored and not needing a reply.
People just making a statement that they have some issue dont generally need to be replied to unless it's something that has a quick fix of which when they post a discussion and can be replied to easily i often do reply if someone else has not.
Not much bearing on the others ignoring Steam comments.

And seriously, the devs are not paid for this, its already nice they consider troubleshooting on Discord. Not to mention providing this beautiful mod to everyone. They even put in jokes in the mod files, so you can have some laughs while finetuning the mod to your liking too
