It's like writing the game in the game, but not just adding new things but mostly fighting with simulation data that is available and many performance issues. Simulation part is not super hard but figuring out how to make UI that will setup things, keep itself in sync etc. plus be more or less intuitive and understandable to the point that won't require reading multipage documentation is really a challenge.
I'm just more glad I was able to explain it well enough on the first go.
