TMPE seems to ruin my traffic?
Consistently, I can start a new game on a vanilla map and watch my traffic flow drop to ~75% as highway interchanges across the map become completely congested. Seems to be a mix of more vehicles and all of them travelling the same route, ergo using the same lane. This happens without me building anything.

Anyone got insight on this problem?

Try "Optimised Outside Connections" mod and turn off the dummy traffic in its mod options.
