I think the reason is that my race uses a dedicated crown type and body type when they are young, but I think it's because it conflicts with adjusting the size of the csl. Is it possible not to apply this adjustment?

I think I know what you mean, there are multiple ways to influence it, the mod options now have the new "per species settings" which allow to disable scaling for certain species and it may be possible to add those from another mod (maybe even add a new function on my side to make this easier)

It can could also be influenced through harmony patches after CSL in the "RenderPawnInternal"-prefix and changing "PawnRenderer_RenderPawnInternal_Patch.renderActiveCSL" to false (but this may get messy with multiple mods - like it was the case with [KV] Show Hats, Pawnmorpher and CSL recently)

Or is there maybe an option that I could read from GaramRaces so that I can disable scaling for the life stage? (Like the colors etc. - maybe this would be the best way, so that it can be configured in the race/species XML per life-stage?) (like RaceAddonComp / raceAddonGraphicSet.presentAgeSetting)

Anyway, I solved this problem by adjusting to use a separate head offset when detecting csl.
