What's Different From SW?
[UPDATED: February 2025]
As expected, we took some liberties upon ourselves when it came to making Island Adventures a proper feeling Shipwrecked Together port. This is a list of most of the changes we've made ourselves that isn't found in the original DLC, and is more geared toward DST's features, and DST's way of balance and convenience:

World Options
World Type
  • Islands
    • Shipwrecked as it was originally made. To be paired with Volcano or Forest.
  • Volcano
    • The Volcano as it was originally made. To be paired with Islands.
  • Forest
    • The standard DST experience. To be paired with Caves or Islands.
  • Caves
    • The standard DST caves. To be paired with Forest.
World Settings
  • DST Boats
    • Toggle use of DST Boats and Structures on this world's water.
  • IA Boats
    • Toggle use of SW Boats and Structures on this world's water.
  • Deadly Drowning
    • Toggle whether drowning will kill you or strand you on the nearest available land.
  • Random Ocean Encounters
    • Toggle how often Crocs and Sharx spawn as a result of player action.
World Generation
  • Volcano Island
    • Generate the Volcano content as an island in SW worlds.
  • Volcano
    • Generates the actual Volcano structure.

World Changes
Shipwrecked
  • World Regeneration now works for SW resources
  • Bee Queen spawns on her own Meadow island
  • Klaus' Sack spawns during Dry Season (unlockable via Bone Key)
  • Terrarium spawns with its own SW-themed set pieces
  • Coral Den has been added to allow adopting critters in SW
  • Volcano can be appeased with some DST items (Amberosia, Wortox Souls, etc.)
  • World Hopping is available via Seaworthy, as long as an Islands and Forest world is being hosted
  • Seaworthy has a new UI popup for servers without properly linked Forest & Islands shards
Forest
  • Wolly spawns along the coast of the main continent
  • Palm Trees replace Birchnuts in the Desert Oasis

Mechanic Changes
  • Poison doesn't affect certain DST mobs (Maxwell's Minions, The Twins, Ancient Sentrypede, Celestial Champion, etc)
  • Strong Winds can be configured to affect fewer structures
  • Drowning can be toggled between Fatal/Nonfatal

  • Pirate Parrots in a birdcage have a sanity aura
  • Pirate Parrots have additional dialogue in the inventory + birdcage
  • Rainbow Jellyfish in a Fish Scale-O-Matic give off light
  • SW Fish have alive/dead states like DST Fish
  • Critters, Kitcoons, and Woby follow the player around in a Life Raft
  • Bees now drop the Bundling Wrap Blueprint if Bee Queen is disabled in the world
  • Fishermerms can sit on the Royal Tapestry
  • Merms now drop Frog Legs in SW

Plant/Food Changes
  • RWYS-Compatible Sweet Potatoes
  • The Plant Registry shows SW Seasons when in a SW World
  • Coffee is now considered a Goodie
  • Sweet Potatoes can be used to cook Fancy Spiral Tubers
  • SW Trees can be planted on the same turf as every other DST Tree
  • Many DST Plants are affected by Strong Winds
  • (Hallowed Nights) Living Jungle Trees can be grown with a Pomarium Experiment
  • (Hallowed Nights) Living Jungle Trees can now be decorated
  • (Winter's Feast) SW Trees can be used in Winter's Feast Planters

DST Compatibility w/ SW
  • Some DST Craftables have alternate materials when in a SW World
  • New DST loot added to Treasure Hunting, Slot Machine, Trawling & Yaarctopus
  • Celestial Orb available via Treasure Hunting
  • The Sea Worther & Seaworthy are now irreplaceable items
  • DST Boats + Structures usable on SW Water
  • DST Boat leaks can be plugged with Tar
  • DST Boats can be repaired at a Sea Yard
  • DST Boat Bumpers weaken the push force of SW Waves
  • Watering Cans & Mosquito Sacks can be filled at Tidal Pools

I gave the list a much needed update, it now lists nearly every change IA has received in its lifetime.

Can we have flooded and puddle in the mod. I love that mechanic, it make the game challenge because there is no winter in this mod

This already exists in the mod. Flooding happens in Monsoon (the Spring equivalent, not Winter).

I really wanted a world-gen option that contains SW and DST continent together. I just read this and seems you guys made a "Merged" Preset but now removed. Can we have this option back in the near future?
Amazing stuff you guys have done btw. Really appreciate your work.

We appreciate the kind words!
Sadly we are not planning on reintroducing the Merged preset, as we have since removed the code necessary to split the world into DST and SW seasons by climate.
You're still encouraged to try out dedicated servers capable of hosting all 4 worlds separately; Forest, Caves, SW, and Volcano. We have templates for these kind of servers on our Discord.

Idk if this is in the mod or not but it would be nice if there was some kind of way to get coffee plants without going to the volcano. (via treasure etc.)

The only other way to get coffee bushes is via enabling the "Volcanic Island" world setting when making a new world. This will generate a large island in the same world as SW with all the necessary Volcano content.

This is mainly an option so you don't have to run the Volcano as a separate shard, better for lower-end PCs.

Yes. As it says in the list, Bee Queen spawns in SW worlds.
