Game crashing due to ridiculous amounts of ground forces
I have recently had problems with stellaris crashing over 3 seperate playthroughs with acot, overrides and sofe enabled. I have now found the cause of the crash, and that is because of what i can only assume to be a bug with the giga fortress building or Virtual Strike decision as both where present on a habitat with around 30 000 ground forces (not strength but actuall number), which persisted even after all jobs that provided forces where disabled (dark enforcers, giga cannon operators, etc). Removing the colony through commands did remove the armies and allowed me to avoid the constant crashing, but it did take me over 4 days to find this bug and 3 playthroughs which almost had me quitting the game entirely.
Just thought that this bug should be known as it was very annoying if one does not know how to fix it and it happen consistently for me around ingame year 2360 - 2380.

Just came up with the same issue! And for me once Superior Constructs policy is applied on one planet, it will spawn ground forces endlessly, and I can't find any way to stop it!
I left only ACOT, GIGA, Real Space on my mod list. Took me several rounds to figure out the cause.:steamsad:

Yeah it is a huge problem for me as well.

Yeah my crashing save game stopped crashing after I cut the pop_defense_armies_add parameters by 10

I believe this is also the problem on my most recent campaign, the first to include ACOT (which is probably the most radical mod in my list). It also crashes on the exact same date every time.

Thing is, I don't think it's one of my own colonies causing the issue, but more likely one of the awakened empires that have been ravaging the galaxy since 2300. I'm only now reaching the point where I can access Dark Matter tech and all the new stuff this mod adds to it.

Any known workarounds?

As far as i know there are 2 options, either remove all jobs providing ground forces, or deleting the colony somehow. If you don't own the colony then you can focus on the planet and type 'effect remove_colony = yes' in the command console or type 'own' and then resettle all pops when you control it.

I mean, sure, but I don't even know which planet in my 800-star galaxy is the offending one.

you said before that it probably was one of the awakened empires, so switching to observer with the 'observe' command and then checking their planets is a possibility. Just look for soldiers at the bottom of the list with numbers in their names above 20 000. You can then switch back with 'play 0'

Jep, found a fallen empire planet with over 550k army strength generated by "virtual soldiers". And even after removing the jobs creating them, they persist. Had to delete the entire colony.

EDIT: nvm, the crash continues on the same date even with that colony gone.

Same thing. I haven't any FE on map and it crashes. Log file no aware crashes...

The new update appears to have fixed the issue, my save no longer crashes on that date (although the colony is still removed).

I'm struggling badly with crashing. I have a list of 15 mods though, but the most substantial ones are of ACOT's associated mods.
