Maybe the only way around this, is to stash all of your men in one of your castles, and then go do the stupid quest. After the quest is finished, you can just pick up the men you left behind. I might just cheat my way through this, it's ridiculous.
This is like the Lysa Aran quest, where you kill the mountain clansmen and your reward is LOSING 50 renown and losing 20 relation with the Lord of the Vale. What is with this mod and giving you PUNISHMENTS as rewards for quests?!
Sure. But if we're going with "It's lore based", then it doesn't make sense that my character, a southern Knight, would round up 200+ of his best men, travel all the way north and join the ranging. In the lore, ONLY Night's Watchmen went on this ranging- no southerners stepped in until the Wildlings attacked the wall, and Stannis arrived to fight them off.
