Back a couple of years ago, I waged a war in the name of Myr against Tyrosh. I managed to completely destroy their entire army in a couple of consecutive camped-in battles and then laid siege against that deathtrap of a walled in fortification walled in city... Jesus Christ, was that a bloodbath. I'd rather fight their armies all at once again than deal with THAT!
Reason I say the AI is stupid is because the camp had a deep lake between my forces and all of those angry giant mace-wielding Tyroshi. They charged and drowned. WIN!
I joined Tyrosh in my game and was on my way to attempt sieging the island city of Lys.
I made the mistake of attacking a small Lysian army that was passing by... For some reason, naval/boat battles seem to get broken up into many separate battles before they're finally resolved... Possibly because the boat battlefield is too small for all the units that appear?
At the end of each boat battle, there is always a bit of lag where I'm waiting for like 30 seconds before the game tells me that I've won and I can 'Tab' to accept victory.
During that time, my reinforcements keep spawning in, and several of my men keep jumping from the boat and drowning.
I lost maybe two dozen of my soldiers to drowning before the battles were done. Luckily they were all 'wounded' and not killed.
I'm having a dumb problem with the siege itself though... The siege menu ALWAYS breaks on me.
I find that if I wait a few days (trying to wait out the city's food stores), the menu stops being responsive. None of the options (except call for a meeting with the enemy commanders) work, and I'm forced to Alt+F4 out of the game.
They have too many defenders. I can't starve them out with the game constantly breaking on me. And I can't just build a ladder and attack their full-strength garrison head on.
My force of 180 randoms + the Archon of Tyrosh's force of nearly 300 ... Still lost due to us bottlenecking up that tiny single ladder.
