Enable cheats and CTRL+click to teleport anywhere on the map. Try to get as close to the castle as possible.

Actually, I believe when you get to 250 Renown (Guesstimating, this is around when I got the option.) you get the option to build a village, as long as you are not a vassal or a mercenary, where you can make your own custom units and make your own faction. You can then build the castle through the village, where it will place it nearby your village.
